One month later...

After a torturous month of teeth pulling, hair yanking, and head banging, I finally did it.  I have, through some divine intervention, succeeded in mapping a domain through Typepad and GoDaddy.com!

So, all of this work for what? Well, now the site can be accessed via www.writesville.com as well as still being accessible through writesville.typepad.com (a nice result of mapping domains through Typepad).

Some of you reading this post know exactly the kind of headache this process is (do you have a horror story to share?). In light of the matter and because some information out on the web regarding this process is lacking in a few steps, I'm thinking of creating a simple how-to guide to help others with this. I know it is off topic in relation to this site, but i'm thinking I will anyway if I can find the time. Maybe it will save others the same headaches.

I'm not even going to go into the support systems for both Typepad and GoDaddy. Typepad's staff was somewhat helpful, and GoDaddy's was, well....let's just say I don't like being repeatedly told what I think I want, when I already know what I want and am just trying to get help in doing it. Very annoying.

Anyway, just wanted to share some good news (at least for me) and rant a little bit.

I've been kicking around the Net for a while looking for the answer to this problem. Luckily, there's a good support page at TypePad for this:

Hi there

I came to your post through Google intervention. I am in the process of mapping my domain to TypePad through GoDaddy and your advice will be much appreciated!

Hi Kathy, sorry to hear you're having problems with that. It's a pain in the butt, but here are a few things you can try (I'm going to try and write something up as a guide for the rest of us later):

****MY COMMENTS DELETED B/C OF INCORRECT ADVICE****

See if this helps any. Let me know how it turns out for you.

I thought I was the only one I have tried many times to do it from typepad and can not can you please tell me how you did it? I did what they said on typepad and it did not work.

Thank you kabdelhak
